read response here somewhere with quick saying he was rechambering 243 to 6mm rem ai rather than ai the original because of longer neck on rem/easier on throat. if so, please explain why longer neck on cartridge is better on throat. question fo course to tim, but like replies from any with insight. thanks, jather...

I don't think it was me discussing neck length of the 6mmAI, I went with it cuz I got a deal on a custom reamer and Hornady Hydraulic forming dies from Mac.  ;D

probly bad memory on my part tim, thanks for the reply anyway. for myself, with our penchant for rimmed cases in our handis, the 7x57 cases can still be bought rimmed. got a 7-08 barrel coming that i'm planning to go to 7x57-ai while i'm at it- and thinking of doing 6mmrem on my 243-ai again of course. regards, jather...

The only thing I have heard discussed on 243 vs 6mm necks is the 6mm has a longer neck and is more versatile in seating depths and bullits that can be used when handloading. eddie
