Forend and stock for Mod 24
« on: January 12, 2010, 11:50:07 AM »
I have an old .22/410 in the Mod 24 which I would like to try and redo the stock and forend and reblue the barrels. Anybody got any ideas on what is at on the market for this type of undertaking?

I was mainly trying to find out if there are any sources that actually sell forends for this model as the one that is on it is plastic and I would prefer wood. I would refinish the stock and reblue the barrels myself.

i'm not positive but i think that several other savage models had basically the same fore-end set-up. the model 94 single barrel being one. numrich arms, sarco, samco, and springfield sporters all sometimes have parts for older guns. places like boyd's have the wood if your fore-end metal parts are good. hope this didn't hurt even if it didn't help, bubba.

Hawlg
That is a nice job!
I guess I will not be refinishing the Mod 24 I was talking about. My mother passed away Feb. 5 and my youngest brother wanted the gun so I told him to take it as I had already gotten my daddy`s Pre 70 Winchester Mod 70 in 30-06 with a Weaver K-6 scope. I do have a Mod 24 in the 12/30-30 configuration with the synthetic scope that I like.
