re- worked 45-70 brass?

I found a round at the range's bad ammo box that I brought home and pulled the bullet it's a 45-70 re-formed at case mouth it's 40 cal. it had a .400" bullet that weighed 413 gr. any ideas as to what it is? I know its a 45-70 case because on the bottom it says 45-70 GOVT.
an unloaded wepon is equal to the same mass and volume as a rock.
