Tryed my hand at baking today.
« on: December 28, 2009, 08:20:22 AM »
So I am off work this wek and I thought that I would try and make some of my grandmas molasses cookies. I gathered all of the ingredients together, found all of the utnestils and started working. Everything was going great until I got to the part that said ' make into 1 inch balls', they just looked to small to me. So I made them the size that looked good to me. Turns out the recipe was supposed to make 4 1/2 to 5 dozen cookies and I ended up with a dozen. Thats right 1 whole dozen of cookies. So basically it equates to about 1 of my cookies equals 5 normal size cookies. Something tells me that the wife is not going to be happy. But its ok, I like big cookies and have plenty of milk. By the way, the recipe is in the recipes sub-forum on here under Grandma's Molasses Cookies.

Rememer when Baking weighing is better than volume measurements.
Flour can settle and 4oz volume can weigh as much as 8oz.
