Redhawk sights

I am picking up a new to me redhawk 44 mag tonight!  I want to upgrade the sights to something brighter than stock.  What AM sights are good and where would I get them at a good price?

i dont know what a AM sight is but heres my take on sights. Ive been all over the place on sights on sixguns since i took up hunting with them. What have i concluded? Its tough to beat a good black sight. If i was going to upgrade the sights on a redhawk id go with a bowen target rear and a flat post type front blade. I believe dave clements will make you a blade. About the only way to beat this sight setup in very low light is with trinium.

What I have on my hunting revolvers with open sights is, Gold bead front site with V rear. That is what I have Gary Reeder put on all my hunting handguns. They work great in all light conditions.

When I had my Redhawk 44 mag I used the gold bead front and V rear also. They really worked well.

It's impossible to beat a Bowen Target Rear Sight for precision adjustability, durability and sight picture. I'm not a fan of his Rough Country sights at all, and won't have one on any of my guns.
 Generally, I prefer a black / blued custom slightly undercut front sight. Bowen, Clements, or several others could supply you with what you need.
For something other than a black front sight, I recommend a green fiber optic front sight from Hi-Viz. Part Number RH2006-G. The top of these is square, which helps with sight alignment, but the green really draws your eye to the front sight. I find the green far superior to a brass bead in the woods.
These front and rear aftermarket sights are pricey, but worth every dime, if you demand a superb sight picture.

Have to agree with some others about the gold bead and V......good sight for hunting.  I, however, have opted for a fiber optic on the front and a "one ragged hole" on the rear. ( most of my hunting handguns wear optics ) This set-up is good for tired eyes and a lot easier on the wallet than sending your handgun off for a sight upgrade.  At 10 bucks or so for the front and I believe 20 to 25 bucks for the rear.......great 'hunting" sight.  We are talking hunting , not percision shooting.  Minute of paper plate at 50 yards.  regards and good luck

personaly i cant stand a v and gold dot. I cant get enough precission to shoot decent groups with them. redhawk ive got a 475 FA gun thats in for barrel wacking surgery. It came with those express sights. If you had a set of normal FA Sights id swap you for them.

not much to explain, the front is a green fiber optic from "Hi Viz" , I believe.  I got it from Midway.  The rear I ordered off the "one ragged hole " website.  It replaces the blade in the rear site with a sort of peep site.  It comes with two different  blades , holes a different size.  Iffin ya concentrate on the front site as ya should, your eye will center the green fiber in the middle of that peep.  Works well for hunting.  When shooting paper I have trouble with wanting too look at the rear site.....can,t do that with this set-up.  Give it a try , maybe you'll like it...and maybe not, ya can always sell it.  jIts not gonna break your bank.    regards

I ordered the gold bead/V rear sights from Ruger for my Redhawk. Very cheap and easy. Loved them. Wish they offered them on all their hunting guns. Tried to see if they still offer them, but they've screwed up their website so that I can't find them now. Like Redhawk 1, I sent a Bisley to Gary Reeder to have it done. To me, it was sure worth it.

I got the gold bead V notch set from Brownells a couple of years ago and replaced the rear with a small apature One Ragged Hole. The verdict is still out, I haven't been able to work with the redhawk for a while.

My experience with the shallow v and gold dot Ruger sights is limited at best. I bought a set to install on my Redhawk and soon found them very good for quick close shots but, where I live shots can be far greater than the sights are good for, in my experience, others may have different opinions and or hunting conditions. I put the factory set back on the gun.
