How are the hides looking?
« on: November 05, 2003, 03:43:49 PM »
Can anyone tell me what the coon hides are looking like along the Ohio river. Our trapping season opens this next Monday here in Ohio and was wondering if the hides were still blue or if they were priming up yet. Worm

Worm cant tell you about Ohio but here in WI season opened three weeks ago and hides are just now coming prime without being blue.  Seasons arent set for hide primeness so i would take that into consideration.

RdFx, thanks for the information. I think I will set a few sets for coon and see for myself. The weather is just now starting to turn cooler than it has been, but temps are still pretty warm. Like I said, season opens this next monday and I'm rarin to get out there. This is one year where I am actually ready to get out there. I have all the lure and bait I will need and more traps now than I have ever had. Naturally I forgot to buy extra name tags for all these new traps I have, but sent out for them a few days ago. I will post later on as to the condition of the hides after I catch a few. Thanks again, Worm.

P.S. Do you have anymore of those sandbags? I will most likely be needing some more.
