Forearms adapters?
« on: January 12, 2010, 04:08:54 AM »
I have a contender that wears the pachmyer (sp?) grip and forearms, and I have the adapter bar that screws into the barrel via two screws, then the forearm secures to the adapter bar via a slightly larger screw, my question, is if I go to a wood set, do I need this same adapter bar for the wood forearm to secure to the barrel?  I always see these adapter bars advertised as pachmyer forearm adapter bar which leads me to believe it is not needed for the original wood style furniture.  I ask this because I would like a nice wood set for my contender but not sure which ones to buy or which ones will fit.  Ideally, I'd like the wooden grips with the cushion opn the back-strap and a matching wood forearm.  Suggestions?

If you're talking about factory wood, then, no you would not need the adapter.  Custom wood it depends on who's making it.  Most of the custom guys will make either way you want them....w/ or w/o adapter.  Most of them make their own adapter or as they generally call it...hanger bar.

I had a set made by Tony (www.tonysforendsandgrips.net)
He pillar bedded 2 inserts in the forend and provided 2 screws to attach it to the factory 14" barrel. Look at my avatar, the set is classic walnut.
And yes, custom forend makers will work with you for whatever hanger system you want to use.
