Roosi youth slug 1st kill.
« on: November 30, 2008, 07:41:50 AM »
I purchased the youth 3 set at D!(ks last year ($199), .22LR, 20ga field, 20ga heavy slug.
Topped the rifled slug barrel off with a fixed 4X slug scope ($50)
This was purchesed for My 12, 9, 6 year olds.

My 18yr old nephew came for Thanksgiving and opening day(in the MM academy).

We shot the Rossi a lot on Wed-Thur to get him up to speed.
Zero'ed it in at 50 yards and kept real tight groups (like touching).
The other thing is this gun has very little kick with the 2-3/4 20 ga light field slugs (compared to My Mos 500's, rem870,)

This is one sweet gun, everyone who shot it, loves it.

Anyhow, told him no yearlings and 1 deer, so pick wisley.
at 7:30 he let a spike pass, at noon he was kicking him self :)
little later 5 does come flying off public land, he grunts, then yells, but no stopping them.
With 3 min of light left, he see's a deer come off the hill and out of the laurel about 50 yards out, puts the scope on it and took the heart out.

Great to see a young hunter harvest a deer....any deer.

Good to see you instilling judgement into the shot/kill.  There's a promising future there.

Sorry,
It was a 4 point, his 1st gun deer, and last chance to hunt for a few years (military)

I have killed deer in most every way possible, with the exception of with a shotgun/slug.I have been thinking about setting a slugger up,but I am so busy with the pistols I just never get around to it.Congrats to the young man.

I have really grown to love the Rossi Trifecta youth.
That heavy 20ga slug barrel has no kick with 2-3/4 Lightfield slugs.

I have started using it over My $900 Rem SPS 1100 slug gun.

Dropped 3 deer the last day of Shot gun with it (last Sat)
I can find nothing to dislike about the Rossi.
Now all it needs is a Thumbhole stock.

I took the Rossi 20ga youth slugger out on opening day (over my rem 1100 SPS),
I sang it's song when called on, and took a nice doe,
I love the Rossi youth slug gun, very little kick.

Does the youth model come with the cheek piece or is it and aftermarket add-on?
