That was great, but do they really have a minimum size? Here in Texas they want us to just kill as many as possible. My wife keeps asking me to bring home a suckling pig to smoke whole.

Most places have no minimum size.  You will have to check the regulations for your hunting area.  The little ones are more edible than their big old hogzilla cousins.  But nearly all of them are edible if prepared properly.

LOL, just kill them all no matter what the size.

Land_Owner said it best on the sizes, however there are some of all sizes100 + that no matter how you clean or fix them are better for yote bait LOL.

I'd pay money to hear that old guy tell some more stories!  I mean, I was captivated with a story about a guy with an outdated gun shooting a suckling pig and then, almost crapping down both legs in fear!  He's good, real freaking good!!!

Landowner.  Old partner I would have to disagree with the statement that all are editable if prepared correct.  I have killed some that smelled so bad you could smell them from 10 feet away.  I have tried several boar over 100 pounds, most were tolerable, but I really can’t say it was good.  A sow up to that size eats well, but as they get larger they get more gamey and smell too.  I’ll stick with something about 50 pounds or less, they do eat good! ::)

It all depends on how hungry you are.  I am sure the most stinkiest boar would not last long in Haiti right now.

rockbilly, ours get a pretty good (and healthy) dose of corn from the sling feeder...although insufficient to meet their dietary needs.  They also eat pretty well from the riverine flood plain that is adjacent to my place.  I suspect there are drought and scarce food lands (maybe even eating dead carcusses) that increase the inedibility of some.

As I originally penned (good exculptory language), not all are fit to eat.  I had one once that had worms throughout the meat.  He was DEFINATELY not fit to eat.

REV Recoil brings up a VERY GOOD consideration...how would we, could we, can we turn our good fortune in hogs into meat for Haiti?????

It ain't only hogs , to date i have had one buck that the meat was so rank it could not be eaten , Some was in summer sausage and the were so bad i could not bring them in from the processor . Also some ducks stink so bad my wife won't cook them much less put them on the table and she likes cabbage cooking.

Landowner.  I suspect it is something in their diet that makes them so gross.  We run three feeders year round with a mixture of corn, Anther Max and Mr. Buck.  I use 55 gal drums, start with a fifty pound bag of corn, then alternate with Anther Max and Mr. Buck until full, each feeder is on a timer and runs for 10 seconds twice a day.  After a day or two it starts to mix and throw a goodly portion of each.  I won't say how much my feed bill runs each year for fear it may get back to the wife..... 8)

In my part of the country we run long periods of drought, there are not a lot of natural foods for them with the exception of acorns, (I have seen them eat catus when the thorns are burned off.)  I know they root under the cedars but are not sure if they are eating the roots or not, they do wipe out any dead animal usually before the buzzards find it.  We have trapped a few and fed them out for two-three months to put on fat and get some of the wild out, they ate as good as any pork I have had.  By the same token, I have also noticed that deer are not as tasty during periods of drought.  I too have killed a few of them that I didn't eat; they were turned into delicious tamales though.  I know from my experiences in the military that almost anything is editable, but all is not good.
