Packers Get 3 Starters, 4 Backups for Pro Bowlby WBAY
December 30, 2009If there were ever a year to back out of the Pro Bowl, this is it. The NFL moved the game this year to the week before the Super Bowl and in the host city, Miami.
So if your team makes it to the big game, there's no way you play in the Pro Bowl.
Packers quarterback
Aaron Rodgers would love to skip the Pro Bowl, even though he has been selected for the first time.
Rodgers is the first player in history to throw for more than 4,000 yards in his first two years as a starter. He is also second in the conference in touchdowns and passing yards, and third in quarterback rating.
Charles Woodson earned his sixth Pro Bowl selection -- second in a row as a Packer. He will start for the NFC after receiving the most fan votes among corners. He's tied his career high with eight picks so far. He also has two sacks and four forced fumbles.
Safety
Nick Collins is also going back for the second consecutive year, which should not hurt his contract drive. Collins has six picks, second only to Darren Sharper in the NFC.
Packers linebacker
Clay Matthews was selected as an alternate.
Others in line as back-ups for the all-star game are running back
Ryan Grant, tackle
Chad Clifton, and linebacker
A.J. Hawk.
