Points all well taken, but remember, this Dynapoint is really a soft swaged bullet with a copper plating, no jacket, so it expands well and at the 'less than magnum velocity' is more of a thwacker. Placement is everything in hunting game and these almost unknown cartridges were a surprise to me. Interesting that you found that much difference in the FMJ vs HP. Sounds like you really test them well.
BTW, I keep a box of 'real' magnums' around just in case. As I remember, they only print about 1/2" higher at 50yds so no scope adjustment is needed to reach on out.
I too like the 25-20 and 32-20, though I wish they had faster twists to stabilize heavier bullets. That would allow me to shoot heavys at sub-sonic. That slow brick will kill, but so will the Dynapoint if you put it where the critter lives. Oh yeah, and Im talking about cast bullets not jacketed.
Old Ned Roberts thought the .22WCF killed 'out of proportion to its size' and the flat shooting aspects made good kill zone hits easier than the 25s & 32s. That said, you are right too and the larger frontal area and bullet weights of those really do the job. Even a 22 Short will kill a Polar Bear, but Im not going to do it! If you start out with a big enough hole who needs expansion.
