35 Remington
« on: January 08, 2010, 03:07:52 PM »
I am planning on trying to load some 140 grain Barnes .357 bullets in both my 12" and 17" 35 Remington barrels.  Has anyone else tried any of these?  What kind of accuracy did you experince?  What load data did you use?

I want to try and use just all copper bullets and my choices seem to be limited.

Thanks.

I have only loaded the Speer 180 grain FP in my contender. I've had some people say the 357 bullets may not shoot well in the contender. Barnes does make a 200 grain TSX but I'm not sure if the bullet would get optimum expansion at the lower velocities. Give the folks at Barnes a call I'm sure they would be glad to help.

i  have  a  180 grain  WFN  LBT mold
that  i  use  for  38/357  sized  to  358
it  cast  3 pb  and 1  gc  slugs at a time

i  got  a  new  359  sizing  die  now
the  gc  slugs will be  used  i  think

i  would  be  curious  what  velocity  the lighter  pistol bullets will  give

i  have  a  lone eagle  and  marlin 336

I've got the wildcat cousin, 357 Herrett. It'll shoot 158 gr and 180 gr jacketed bullets equally well, about 1-1/2" at 100 yards. I've never tried it with lighter bullets.
I have a Lyman .35 caliber "M" expander die. I'll load 158 gr cast bullets over Unique for cheap practice rounds. I use the starting loads in Lyman's Cast Bullet manual for load data.
Mike Bellm says the .35 T/C barrels run undersize but I haven't slugged mine to see.
