Re-barrel: 338 to .375 H&H
« on: January 07, 2010, 03:49:19 PM »
Thinking of re barreling .338 Win to .375 H&H.

I'm thinking of light varmint contour and 22" length.

Rifle is M-70 Classic  CRF Super Grade with  one cross bolt.

I'm thinking of adding a recoil lug on the new barrel and another cross-bolt in the stock.  Kind of like the M-70 Safari Express.  The .338 barrel is too light.  I like a heavier barrel that produces a  muzzle heavy effect.

Any thoughts?  Comments? Recommendations for a gunsmith for this project?

We have at least two GBO Sponsors I can think of right off the top of my head who do such work. Match Grade Machine and SSK Industries. I have no personal experience with MGM's work but do with SSKs. I'm sure both can and would do a fine job for you on the project.
