This is really a hard question to answer because the barrels aren't the same length or diameter.  About the only accurate answer would be the difference in stripped frames and I don't know the answer to that.  I know in pistol versions it's generally considered to be about a pound difference, but even that could vary considerably.  Sorry, Walt

the difference in barrel diameter was really why i was asking, the comparison i would want would be in a tapered barrel encore and a contender carbine, if not the same barrel length a 22 on the contender and a 24 on the encore.

My estimate is that the average difference will be around 2 pounds ( the Encore being heavier).  But that's if you compare similar setups in the two models.  That's why I still preferr the Contender in pistol configuration (or as a light carbine).  The Encore makes a fine handgun also, but it's definately heavier.   No further than I can shoot with a pistol and actually hit something, the Contender siutes my needs

i had my encore set up as a pistol and didn't like it, but like it as a rifle.  i have a contender set up as a pistol and really like it, and am now thinking that a contender rifle would be a nice setup since it would be lighter, but am trying to figure out how much lighter it would be.   if it would be close to 2lbs i would be all over it.   my scoped 24" barrel walnut encore is a little over 8.5lbs by my scale, which might not be accurate enough.   (digital bathroom scale)
