I have been using lightfield 12ga for over 15 years, and love them, lots of devisation, always good blood.
Recently I switched to 20ga guns, kids are hunting now too.
I have shot 4 deer this season with the lightfield 20's, all of them where not pass throughs.
3 of them where in the snow, with NO blood, not a drop.
Shot 2 deer on Sat, 1st was high and dropped her with a broken back, I then shot her in the neck (from the stand , 40 yards)
When I got down she lifted her head, crap I missed, shot her again in the neck, moment later, head back up, shot her again.
While examining her, all 4 where hits, 1 in the back, and 3 in the neck, with no pass throughs.
Next deer was quatering torwards me, shot and she "dipped and ran" Crashed 40 yards away.
Virgin snow, not a single drop of blood from the shot site to the deer, no blood at the "kick out" spot either.
Not a singlr drop ! if this was night and I did not see her drop, I would written it off as a miss.
I need a soft lead 20 gauge slug with a little more taper on the front, I need a blood trail with 3 kids now hunting.
Who make a good tapered lead hollow point in 20 Ga. ?
