Florida Jury "Smokes" Clean Shot Technologies
November 2001, Shawnee Mission, Kansas - Hodgdon Powder Company announces that Clean Shot Technologies, Inc. was shot down by a jury verdict in a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Hodgdon.

A Federal Court jury in West Palm Beach Florida on Monday November 5, 2001 unanimously handed down a verdict in favor of Hodgdon Powder Company, Inc. and against Clean Shot Technologies, and awarded Hodgdon damages in the sum of $1,014,660.

The jury rejected all of Clean Shot's claims that the Hodgdon patent was not valid, including evidence of products claimed to have been made by the long defunct Golden Powder Company. The jury unanimously found that Clean Shot had willfully infringed Hodgdon's Pyrodex® Pellet patent by copying and selling pelletized powder known as "Quick Shots". An injunction prohibiting further production and sale of "Quick Shots" was issued November 7, 2001.

Hodgdon will also file a post trial motion asking the Judge to increase damages up to three times based on the jury's finding of willfulness.

That's oldnews,
Clean shot closed their doors! Done! The corp. is belly-up.

The same fellers offer the same "loose powder" as cleanshot,D.B.A. American Pioneer powders or American powders something like that,,

But Hodgdon own's "pellet" type powders, period.

Hodgdon Pelletized Powder is a ripoff. You pay more for 2000 grains less powder than you get when you buy Unpelletized.
I have used them, but other than convenience for the Lazy shooter, I won't buy anymore of them. :-)

More than that! Pellets cost $50 a pound-- more for Triple 7.

For shooters that go through one box every 4 years, it is just a "Happy Meal" or two a year, though.

If you shoot 150 grains of powder there is a substantial difference in velocity when you compare pellets to loose powder. In my Omegas 3 - 50 grain pellets chronys on average over 200 fps faster than 150 grains of loose. The difference is very little at 100 grains.

I agree with Omega. You are paying for more than convenience...you do get extra performance and for me it is worth the investment when I'm looking for that extra velocity. When I'm not, then I definately shoot loose RS but if I think I need some extra velocity, then I'm happy to lay out whatever cash they want for pellets.
