Yeah RHI!
Thanks, was gone for awhile down in E.Texas after the wiley whitetail, wish I had taken my "scout" rifle instead of the Encore .270. I found most of the deer in the thick woods!! The .270 is great on those real long shots, but the only long shot for the entire hunt was taken by my oldest son with his .308 Handi at 120 yards.
After the weather warms up a little and settles down we still need to get together with the muzzleloaders!

Dude...we are so on for that. My Dad and I rebuilt an old CVA .50 cal for my son, for Christmas. Very cool to see him open it.  8)

spray and pray , fair statement about VN . how many rounds were sprayed from machine guns for suppressing fire ? How many were the " mad min" hose a area of heavy vegitation before entering ? how many were un aimed shots at bad breath distance in the jungle ? To compare a fight in the jungle to one in a desert is pure BS. The same was true in WW2 we had fights in two different typs of enviroments.
And this is the rub with the Scout rifle it won't work in all enviroments the same. It might work well in cold places. It might be great in open areas but if fast shooting where big mags are needed it will come up shore. It seems like the J frame concept fits it best ,carried alot shot little fits it best.

As for the Ruger ( I like Rugers alot ) they dropped the ball with the plastic parts.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !
