Tom:  Tonite I'm putting your #2 to the test.  Small pond with one lodge, that's new this season.  I set 4 330's with #2 on 3 and some local castor from last year on one set.  I think there are only 4 beaver at this spot but we will see.  Lost a big coyote this morning.  He pumped my cable stake as I was walking up to shoot him.  He had no problem out running me.  Did get a fox and a huge coon.  I'm a little angry cause if I would have checked at my usual time, 6:30, the yote might still have been anchored.

OK,can't pass it up,sorry in advance,here goes.
The important thing,Rob,is that the cable stakes are so LIGHT that you dont mind carrying extra ones with you when you see your current ones"in-use",so to speak.
Also, they are sooooo CHEAP,that you don't mind donating a few as canine ankle bracelet fobs.

Before you get mad and come beat me up,I'm just giving you a hard time,I am just simply too weak in character to let a cable stake sob story go by...............LMAO!!

PS   Still no pucks for you this winter? If you know of anyone selling a size 8 gel skate cheap, let me know.Just priced new ones and decided I'd rather have food this winter instead of new skates........

My fault.  No excuses.  I did succed in one experiment this morning though. I got a red in a #11 with a drag.  I was hoping for a gray as I really forced the issue on guiding with the small trap.  Unfortunately the fox decided to play in some mud while waiting for me.  He's hanging up now getting dry.  First he gets skinned then a bath in dawn dishsoap.
No gel skates around that I know of.  Some CCM 452's may be available.

Tom:  Thus far no runs, no hits, no errors, no nuthin.  I put out 4 330's on dive poles, triggers on bottom and castor mound with #2 on it.  Before I set this pond I would occassionaly put a few popple branches at the spots where they come out of the pond.  Every time, they were gone and added to the feed bed near the lodge or chewed up on the spot.  This afternoon, I decided to try a few popple branches to act as  a little eye appeal.  I'll be checking early tomorrow and post the result if any.

Still nothing.  No attempt to take the popple either.  No one else is trapping at this spot so it's possible that there was only a bachelor living there who had an unfortunate meeting with a cat or more likely a yote.  Or, he has experience with 330's.  What's your thoughts Tom?
