What range did you get shooting it horizontally?  Did it burn out before landing?

I'd say that that tree that it hit was about 30 yards away or so.  I'd bet that for modest barrel elevations you could get 100 yards out of it.

yeah, got to watch those things we fired a smoke round 26.5 mm and it hit a tree limb and bounced into some brush on the ground about 50 yards away, needless to say it was quite the campfire there quick. good thing we are smart enough to carry fire extunishers in our cars ::) with us......

The night we took that picture was after a day of hard rain.  As I recall it was still lightly raining.  I would be real real careful fireing those things on a dry day. 

They are cool though.
