New Powder, IMR 8208 XBR
« on: January 20, 2010, 02:15:43 PM »
I was wondering if anybody has read about or somehow gotten ahold of some of this.

IMR 8208 XBR The latest in the versatile IMR line of fine propellants, this accurate metering, super short grained extruded rifle powder was designed expressly for match, varmint, and AR sniper cartridges.  Ideally suited for cartridges like the 223 Remington/5.56mm, 308 Winchester/7.62mm NATO and the 6mm PPC, shooters will find IMR 8208 XBR totally insensitive to changes in temperature, while yielding max velocities and “tack driving” accuracy.  Clearly, the competitor’s “choice” and the Varmint Hunter’s “dream powder”.

There’s no Target too small for IMR 8208 XBR

IMR’s 8208 XBR is a rifle powder based on an old favorite among the benchrest community, real sticklers for accuracy, with a distinct difference. There is virtually no change in velocity with modest or extreme change in temperatures.  The ballistics group at IMR has tested this powder from -40 to +165 degrees Fahrenheit with virtually no performance variation.

In the field Mr. Jim Carmichael tested the new powder in a practical way; he won the 2009 Heavy Varmint Aggregate at the International Benchrest Shooters National Championship.

Pleasant weather, cold or hot IMR 8208 fills the bill with championship performance in many cartridges from .223 Remington to .458 Winchester.  Whatever you are aiming at it’s no match for new IMR 8208 XBR. The legend is back

I am looking into getting some to use in my 338 Federal. I just thought that I would see if anybody else had looked into using this powder?

There been alot of surplus IMR-8208 available over the years some of the better # lot bring $150 per 8lbs same with some of the Scotish 32.  What be interesting to see when they have to make new batch of that powder how it stack up against the first run and I hate to say this but they been trying to get the old T-32 duplicated for years.  Alot of my small caliber rifles I been shooting IMR-8208/Scotish 32 for years.  I shot alittle Scotish 32 in a 223/7x57/22-250AI the 8208 use that in 6ppc/22br/6br /223AI/222AI/222 and I was lucky got it for $50 per 8lbs.

The new IMR-8208 XBR will be a good powder be long overdue to get some recognition beside from the Br guys.

The new Hodgdon reloading magazine says this is the next best thing since sliced bread for bench rest shooters.  It also says it's perfect for other small bore calibers.

I haven't tried any, but if it's as good as they say, I'm looking forward to loading for my .223.

According to thier load data I should be able to gain about 150 fps in my 338 federal using it. That would be great.
