I have a Springfield '03-A3 and want to remove the blade front sight, and install a target-style front sight (like the Lyman 17) with interchangeable apertures.
Does anyone currently make one that fits the '03-A3, or do I need to start looking for a used one?
I have never removed the front sight. There is a crosswise pin that you drift out, and then I assume the front sight barrel band just slips off over the barrrel. How will the new sight attach? Will there be a dovetail in the barrel for the new sight to fit?
