New to me 22 hornet frame question
« on: January 13, 2010, 07:41:38 AM »
I bought a complete almost new 22 hornet off of one of the members of this board and it is already showing promise what little I have shot it.  My question relates to the fact that it is a 1999 frame (one of the years that they were outsourced) and when I try to install any other barrel, the roll pin that trips the ejector/extractor will not go past the lip in the frame.  The lip extends about 1/8th inch farther to the rear of the gun than my newer or older frames.  I am not planning on doing anything about it, but in the future I am planning on having a 357 barrel added to the frame and was wondering if Illion would be able to fit it to this frame.

Thanks,
Matt

At the top of this page is a thread that Tim says only frames from 2000 will be fitted with high pressure barrels from now on.

Yes I know about the High pressure restriction but 357 is not considered to be high pressure.  They offer it from the factory on an sb1 Frame.

Thanks,
Matt

I think they will Matt, they'll address the frame issue when they fit the barrel, it wouldn't take much modification to allow it to  work.

Thanks Tim, That was the answer I was looking for.  I didn't know if they would modify frames or not.

Thanks,
Matt

matt,  I just sent my 1998 sb1 to get .357 when I called them to check if it could be done, the guy told me it wasn't a problem.

John,  Thanks for your experience.  I assumed from the FAQ's that they would have no problem fitting a 357 barrel on the 1999 frame but I was concerned about the frame fitting issues.  But it is nice to know that they still have no problem fitting them since the move to Ilion.

Thanks,
Matt

I plan on it when I get the funds together later in the year.  I'm still recovering from Christmas and the 22 hornet.

Thanks,
Matt
