Looks like you are only about 10 miles down RT 31 then. I drive through West Newton often. I also stop at that little store at the top of the hill beside the vets often. We should get together and shoot some Groundhogs this spring and summer. ;D Dale

I've never been groundhog huntin.  I really dont have a varment rifle...unless you count an AR15.
I do like going to the range though.

I was wondering if you'll be at the gunshow in Greensburg...I'm going on sunday morning.

I did not plan on going there. I have never been to a gun show and would like to go one sometime. I am going to think about going to it. What range do you use? Dale

Its just a lil place ...Hutchinsons.  If you go down 51 toward Perry theres a right turn where a fella sells outdoor furnature.  Its in the sticks.  He had it closed cause some kids took a car hood there and shot it up and left it.
I'm waiting for the spring thaw berore I try it out again.  I got a new cap & ball revolver to break in.

Another from PA! Cool.  I think Hankster76 is also south of Pittsburgh.  Never contacted him though.

Dale I 'm pretty sure you are into groundhog hunting.  I have been trying to get out in the past but land is always a prob.  Where you been hunting the hogs?  Seems the Scottddale area is full of fields.  You have permissions for them...?  I would love to join for a hog shoot on a saturday when the hogs start coming out, we'll have to figure something out.

My best friend has lots of farm land that he leases, but i've been unable to get the nerve to ask him.  I don't think the leaser is fond of other people hunting his land, and I dont wont him to feel awkard...

There is another member that has handgun hunted in the wmu 2a,...i tried contacting him ,since I hunt same area, but he never replied.

It would be fun to get together with some of the local GBO members and shoot the breeze, or critters... ;D

Yea Jerry I have permission to hunt several farms in the area. A couple years ago I took over 60 groundhogs with my Remington 243. I even hit a couple at about 500 yards. I no longer have that rifle but I do have a sport 93 Spanish Mauser in the 6.5x55 Swede I have not shot yet. Once I get it scoped and if it shoots well enough that will be my main groundhog gun this summer along with my Marlin 917V 17 HMR for closer ranges. I figure it will be used early in the season before they wise up and I can get closer shots. Once they get shot at a couple times they tend to keep their distance from people. We can all get together some Saturday and see what we can do. Dale
