Besides Oct. Barrel's, Did T C make a Bull and a Taper barrel in 10" for older Contenders ??

I have a 10" .44 in Bull and a .22 10" in Bull...meaning .80 end to end.

Just bought a 30-30 Bull, Nice barrel but it's not a Bull...Measures .80 to .65.

The company I bought it from said I am mistaken / wrong.

They said, T C only made 2 versions Oct and Bull, never made a 10" taper !!!!!!!!!

Could it have been a rifle barrel cut down and I got screwed ??

Or does this company need to go back to school ??

Thanks for your time...

I collected Contenders for years and never seen a tapered 10" in any caliber offered by T/C.

So would you say a 10" barrel that measures .80 down to .65 is a RARE Barrel

Or someone cut it and stuck me with a homemade RARE barrel !!!

Thankyou

What TC refered to as a 10" Bull barrel WAS in reality a tapered barrel measuring .810" at the breech and .650(I think)at the muzzle.  I've not seen a standard (factory) 10" barrel that was a true "Bull" barrel.  If you compare the 21" carbine barrel, the S-16 barrel and the 10" bull barrel, you'll find the contour of the first 10" to be the same.  When TC introduced the Super 14, it was and still is .810" end to end. ;) Walt

TC definitely made two different contours of the bull barrel with some of the older ones quite tapered far more so than later 10" bull barrels. My 10" Herrett barrels (both .30 and .357) were of the tapered type. I don't still have them so can't measure the dimensions but the .810" down to .650" sounds about right for them.

I can send pictures to anybody that is interested .

I finally remembered to measure the diameter of a couple of 10" "bull" barrels.  I checked an older style(soldered front sight)45Win Mag barrel and a newer(removable front sight) style 10mm barrel.  Both were .810" at the breech and .720 at the muzzle.  Now , if you take a 21" tapered carbine barrel and check the diameter 10" from the breech, guess what??....720".
