Trying to book a cruise this summer for the wife

What's the best way to book a cruise?  I'd like to go do some fishing around Cozemel, so the western Carribean it will be...I hated the Eastern cruises, most of the places were poor and very dirty... I felt I needed to be armed as soon as I left the boat..It's been years but I had a great time the last time we went..10years or so..I've checked with my local agent, but she is over 800 bucks more than an online dealer.  I'm looking at July or August.  Has anyone else booked an online cruise?

We've always gone directly to the cruise line's website.   Cozumel is also poor.  a good bit of what was there has been damaged by a couple of the more recent hurricanes.  The small area that is funded by the cruise lines is always OK to go to though.  When I was there we rented a jeep and drove all around the island.  there really isn't much there.  some of the people live in houses with half of the roof gone and such.
Still can't beat a cruise though, no matter where it goes.

went to cozumel at the end of last summer.   the damage caused by hurricane wilma in 2005 has been repaired and the port facilities were in great shape.    barring any hurricane this summer prior to and during your planned trip it should be a nice one.   my daughter just went in december and had a great time...everything was fine and functioning.

I go to the cruise lines website, but I like to go in the winter when its 80 there and in the 49s here, just seems to add something to the trip.   Jim

Went on an Alaskian cruise for our honeymoon. It was in May. I did some salmon fishing,didn't get one. But we had a real good time. Saw the glaciers calving off, lots of whales and eagle's. gypsyman

I don't know much about cruises, but I can say that the barrier reef in Belize is spectacular. It's a very beautiful area. They've had some politicial problems this year, so you may want to check into booking there.

One thing I can tell you about fishing in Cozumel is that you may want to consider fishing for bonefish. There are guides for trips like that and they aren't terribly expensive, compared to other guided trips. The fish run relatively small, but they are abundant and are great fighters. There are other reef fish. In June, I've caught bonefish, barracuda, and baby tarpon in abundance. It's a lot of fun. I prefer fly fishing for the bonefish, but spinning works too. Try very light jigs tipped with squid or similar cut bait. Plugs on a baitcaster are the most fun for the barracudas and tarpon.

Most people who fish Cozumel are after the offshore fishing, but the inshore fishing is some of the best I've ever experienced anywhere.

I never go on a cruise, i like to get there and get at it.
I fly to Playa Del Carmen, always go all inclusive, i can see "Cozymel" from the beach. fishing is great.

If you have some leeway in your sch. then wait until a week or so before a cruise you would like to go on and book then at a reduced rate as they are trying to fill out the boat.

It all depends on where you go. It's a great place for the American sportsman.  It's also a lot cheaper to go there than it is to go to most places in the US.

I would not go to the Carribean in the summertime.  Its going to be very hot there and thats hurricane season as well.   Go there now while its cold up north!

Whats great for a summer cruise is Alaska!  As mentioned above you can see the glaciers, animals and they say the fishing is good.

Seeing the glaciers is something else.  Beats the carribean.  Always get a balcony on a cruise ship.

I was hoping the western carribean would be better...Doesn't sound like it..I've never been to Mexico..I would like to see the Panama Canal...I've been on an Alsakan cruise..It was better but much more expensive when you consider plane tickets. Thanks fellows.

Well, if you don't like the western carribean, maybe something really different like a cruise down the baja penninsula. It's very different. If you liked the Alaska cruise you might like this. The scenery is very different, with its own unique beauty. Try to get a cruise that stops at Cabo and then goes into the gulf. Cool. The fishing there is very interesting too.
