As I recall history, England had slowly traded their rights and freedoms away, by constant compromise, and the aristocracy thru vain promises, (what few they had) had disarmed their citizenry, a little at a time and had left them nothing to fight with. As I recall history, the United States dropped by parachute single shot pistols and anything else that would shoot, to the small element that willing to fight, but had been disarmed by their government. As I recall history one of the chief reasons the United States exists, is folks fled places such as England while at the same time fleeing oppression both religious, and personal. As I recall history, were it not for the American soldiers much like my 84 year old uncle, the Hitler WOULD HAVE wrung the necks of the English.
As I recall history, Germany walked thru Europe like a dose of salts thru an old widow woman, due to the fact England's population was unarmed and defenseless. Thus the American air drops of weapons to civilians. As I recall history, Churchill was both a drunkard, and part of the RULING CLASS. He would have been one of the first to be taken out and shot.
And as I recall history, the United States bailed England and the rest of Europe out, thereby preventing them from having learn to speak German.
Massachusetts got nothing more than TEMPORARY RELIEF. Brown will show his "allegiance" to the PARTY, NOT THE PEOPLE, just as "Gingrich" whom endorsed the "Republican" in New York, whom bailed and endorsed the Democrat. Hold your glasses high, the cool-aide has been stirred. It has been on national news constantly with Massachusettians stating they already have their STATE RUN INSURANCE, (which is bankrupt). Victory in Massachusetts. I think not. How liberal does a Republican have to be in Massachusetts to be elected? As liberal as the former Republican Governor whom instituted the MANDATORY STATE HEALTH CARE perhaps?

The European history we are well aware of..can't see the tie-in with the Massachusetts election of the past week.
Now let us  look at the recent historic race in NY. Most of the thinking voters did not vote for the Republican, even though she was endorsed by the Republican party. The conservative voters ..voted for the independent candidate, while a few kool aid drinkers apparently voted for the party pick. For those who did vote for the more conservative candidate, they at least sent a message.
As I said often before, whether there are 2, 3, 4 or 7 running for the office, I will vote for the most conservative candidate. Clearly, had I lived in that district..my vote would have gone to the independent. ...But I would have voted.
I would never stand around wringing my hands and refusing to vote..simply because there was no "perfect" person/candidate available.
Most of us long ago have learned there is no "perfect person" alive, and thus no perfect candidate.
I need not remind most here , there was only one completely perfect, sin free man who ever walked this earth. That being understood, if yopu EVER vote in ANY election..you are by any logic..voting for the lesser of two evils....assuming you would not vote for the greater of two evils, that is.

Might want to reread those history books.  The US didn't drop any guns on England.  I believe those "Liberator" pistols were dropped on France.

They don't believe in our "Republic for which it stands", that is my concern. Sadly, alot of Republicans don't either.

Oops Casull was right..I was asleep at the switch. Those little "liberator' .45 cal single shot pistols were dropped to the "Maquis"..the French resistance of WW2.
True, England was poorly armed when threatened by the Nazis and many Americans donated personally owned arms to the Brits, some of them being treasured heirlooms. From what I understand there was little time or trouble taken to keep records, so few if any were returned to the donors.
