Finally I got one this morning. A grinner of all things. I should be careful what I wish for huh? Caught him in a trail set with a 160. He was froze stiff as a board when I got to him this morning. He never moved the trap or any of the sticks I had to stabilize it. I also had 1 close call and one fired trap. The near miss was on my pvc set under the bridge. The darn stream froze over last night. When I looked overthe bridge this morning, there was tracks on the ice all around my trap and pipe. I now have a cubby I built out of the rocks there so if it freezes over again maybe they will go to that one. My fired trap was also a pvc set between two cornfields. Did not appear to be any digging, just looks like the trap jumped straight up. I also used peat moss to cover the traps. That seems to work so far to keep them from freezing solid. Hopefully I can catch a few more now.
