Ruh Roh!
« on: January 21, 2010, 03:32:46 PM »
I just had a terrible thought: Strong republican victories in 2010 can lead to the kind of creative tension that Clinton had with congress. This pushed Clinton to the right and made him electable for a second term.

An effective republican presence in congress in 2011 could open the door to a second Obama term.

the real key is what obama does right now...remembering Clinton and how he completely pivoted from the leftist agenda  moved to the middle and then got re elected. he was wise enough and had the political savy to pull it off. remember he was so far left, nothing like obama, that most said it was over for him.

obama will address the nation in his state of the union address very shorthly and what is he gonna do and say? he is in real big trouble but his only hope of having any succes in the rest of this term is to pivot and pivot hard right. Will he? I really do not see him doing a Clinton, he is not smart enough. those that were his big money backers are all extreme far leftist and so called Progressives. they will not tolerate any deviation from what they want.

you can see it in their speeches and news quotes they simply will not acceppt what the election in Mass. is telling them. Kieth oberman and chris Matthews two of their most loyal media mouth pieces are simply stunned aand can  not believe the American people have rejected the Obama agenda. i mean they are being vicious as all heck with mostly those Democrats that have shown any willingness for compromise at this point.

I am now watching Arlen Spector attacking Michell Backman (Rep) in an interview. Viciousness is the game of the day attack anyone that disagrees with them. we are witnessing the breaking apart of the Democratic Party. Lanny Davis a strong Democrat was on TV today saying that they must accept that the majority of the American People do not support the Obama Agenda, and that the Democrats must come to terms with that and move on.

I personally have been reminded of the importance of the balance of power and do not want the Republicans to take it all. I do want them to be the majority but not have a super majority such as the Democrats had. I have no real faith they would not do the same heavy handed tactics their opponants have. the founders of this nation were pretty damn smart and saw the importance of not anyone party or group having total control.if

I always had a good handle on his agenda. He does whatever serves him best. Nobody else matters.

I'll take a conservative majority any day over what we have right now, even if the so-called conservatives aren't as conservative as I would hope.

The Dumbycrats aren't about to just fold and go away, because one thing I have learned about them is that they never quit--no matter how wrong they are, or how badly they might get beat.  It's because they will never believe that they aren't smarter than everyone else and they know what's best for everyone.

Oh, and about Bubba winning a second term; remember his opponent was Bob freaking Dole.  I had nothing against him, but come on.

Clinton had no character and no backbone. He wasn't tough, he didn't care enough about anything for anything to affect him. His mind would change with the wind (the polls). A sociopathic liar, stood for nothing and went with the easy flow to get his personal wants.

I think there is another dynamic building here. A lot of liberals that voted "O" arn't happy with him and a lot of conservatives won't vote the lesser of two evils anymore. The dirrection is still undecided, it just depends on what candidate arises that can put together a platform that can pull those factions together. It might mean a tripped up race for another election .

I think a lot of liberal voters have realized they are more conservative than they once thought and a lot of "no lessor of two evils" voters are still waiting on a candidate.

The pressure will keep building.

To the point, that the president is legislatively powerless. Congress has all the power. Congress will make or break this country in the final analysis.

I'm willing to accept that if he starts behaving as he should. The political world is always a compromise. I would be happy with some good old fashioned gridlock. I have come to the conclusion politicians are incapable of solving any problem the best they can do is simply change the problem.

Compromise is okay as long as the Constitution or our Bill of Rights are not being compromised in the process. Political compromise has its limits and this is where our government is failing. The politicians are instituting compromise at the expense of our Rights and the advancement of governmental powers that are NOT enumerated to them in the constitution. In a nut shell, they are corrupt and illegal.

it has become more apparent to me that they, Obama and his cronies, are not going to stop they are going to keep pushing even harder. they simply are not willing to change course . they will be stopped  and gridlock will set in but make no mistake about it they intend to get their way.
