Winchester M70 Coyote WSSM Question

I am the new owner of a Winchester M70 Coyote in 25 WSSM. I have the opportunity to pick up a factory Winchester M70 Coyote Outback stock. My question is would the WSSM action be a drop in to the Outback stock? I would like his to be a "plug & play" conversion. The Outback stock would save me a full pound over the current factory stock. First thing is you have to make sure that the Outback stock was on a gun chambered in one of the WSSM's.  If it wasn't it won't work.  The WSSM's are not a short-action, they are shorter and a gun that was chambered for a 243, 308, 223, 22-250, etc ,etc their stocks won't work on your WSSM.  Second thing you have to consider is the barrel channel.  Was the barrel the same diameter as your coyote ?  The barrel channel isn't a deal killer if it doesn't match, you can always take a little material from the stocks channel if needed.  The most important thing is to make sure that the Outback gun was chambered for a WSSM.   Dave
