handi problem...need info
« on: January 24, 2010, 08:13:01 AM »
I have a shotgun frame i've used for a long time with no problems but the other day at the range had some trouble cocking it...with the gun sitting in the rest(level and upright) the hammer would start to cock then stop going to the rear. I picked the gun up and with the bore elevated just slightly it worked perfect. But when i lowered the bore to level or below it wouldn't cock again...the hammer starts back but stops abruptly before full cock...I checked it out real good and it looks like the top front edge of the transfer bar is getting caught under the back end of the firing pin...well, i can see it happen as well as see it work perfectly when the transfer bar flops slightly to the rear. I took the new transfer bar/lifter assembly out of my sportster and installed it,same thing happens. Anybody ever have this problem?
