Great stories, gang..my story is a bit more mundane I guess...
When I was a junior in high school, my folks sold one farm and moved to another. That was in February..and February around here is rather cold..but not so cold that I didn't notice the little gal who lived directly across the road from me..each time our paths crossed in the local general store....Little did I realize, she had noticed me each day as I drove tractors through snow doing the usual daily farm chores..but by summer we had made a more firm connection.
I graduated HS, went into the Army and we were married time I came back home. It has been 53 years now..54 this summer. Any rough spots were never from major disagreements..but rather those early years, from just "making do" financially.
She gave me 2 great sons (one deceased young)..a princess grandaughter and 3 fine grandsons, "ironglowjr" who posts here being the eldest.
A word of experience (IMO) It is often said "opposites attract"..that may be true, but I believe similars have a better chance of staying together. Just my opinion of course, but the more things you agree upon to start with...the less hurdles and roadblocks that have to be overcome.
If you both hold the same views on family, faith, frugality, politics etc..the better your chances..(IMO). That is not to say people holding views diverse from one another cannot have a solid marriage..but there are obviously, more "speedbumps" to get over.
