G-2 as a Subject for Humor

I just got my new American Rifleman and there is an article about the Top Guns for 2003.  I quote from the listing for Thompson/Center Arms.."Thompson/Center Arms, Inc., building on the success of the popular G-2 Contender pistols series, is offering the new G-2 Contender rifle in a variety of chamberings and barrel options."  Am I missing something, here?  What are they basing all this "success" on?  How can a gun be popular when no one can lay their hands on one.  I would think a gun should be a reality, not a concept, for it to be popular. :?:

It's like the new "hit" TV shows that haven't even been on the air yet.
