I don't know if this really belongs to the humor section but, I think it was just great. Bear with me this will be a long post but worth a read.

I work at a bakery in notoriously liberal town and the topic of gun control came up. I was the only person who supported second ammendment rights in the discussion. Everyone thought I was a fear mongering whack job because I said "Why would you let yourself be a victim if you could defend yourself?" after that I said "Ok, fine. If you think the police will save you from being victimized that is great, just remember it will take a minimum of 15 minutes while you wait for them to show up. In the mean time you may be robbed, raped or killed."

They became angry with me saying I was a fear mongering idiot. Well, that evening, guess what? The bakery was robbed at gun point! I will work tomorrow, I won't say a word. I'll bet oppinions have changed though. Serves them right as far as I am concerned, thankfully no one was hurt.

This post hit me in a funny way. I used yo drive for a bakery at night making dlv's. to 3 stores. Co. policy  was no weapons on the grounds. Told the owners that I had a CCW and I would carry while driving, or they could drive the truck at night. Sure enough I show up for work one night at 2 a.m. and back door is busted in. I dont go in cause I'am not getting paid to chase bad guys. Grab my cell  phone and call the PD. in 2 min's. flat their there. Iam in the back of the building in the parking lot with 45 AUTO in hand SGT (who knows me) which way did they go. Said as  far as I could tell they were still inside the bld. Bout that time second officer shows up and SGT sends him around to the front. Sgt and I go in the back. Officer at the front says a plate glass window had been busted out from the inside. I call the owners and tell them the nice man with the Badge and Gun wants to talk to them. They  show up I leave to do my route. When I get back from my run the owners are still there. I tell them NOW YOU KNOW WHY I CARRY A GUN. Never heard another word about carrying while at work.

Today, I taught them how to secure the building better and how to put employees at less risk while doing the job. The funny thing is they listened real carefully to me instead of looking at me like a nut job.

All those years living in a bad "hood" in K.C. taught me a few things.

I may convert a few yet!

good for you!   what you are doing now is far more effective than sending the nra money.  you are helping people, and promoting second amendment rights at the same time.   dont pass on the opportunity to convert as many coworkers as you can.  great job!

I think I saw it on someones byline here,"A firearm is like a parachute, you don't need it often but when you do there is nothing that can take it's place".
I like to use the fire insurance analogy, my house isn't on fire, if does burn it is to late get a policy.
I drive defensively to avoid accidents, the other person may not.
I am in good health, each day goes by I may need to use my hospitalization insurance.
There is a Proverb that goes something like" a wise man avoids a pit , the fool stumbles into it"

I have made progress with my co-workers. The other day one of my female coworkers wanted to start bringing a gun to work, after she gets a CCW permit of course. I never thought in a million years she would be asking me about getting a CCW permit. Ironically one of our customers also teaches CCW classes locally.

Just goes to show you that most liberals are just an armed robbery away from becoming more like us.

We have been so blessed in this country to live in relative peace.  All things considered, or LEO's do as good a job as they can.  In truth, when something does happen, either we deal with it or suffer the consequences.  Being prepared helps to deal with it.  I wish evil on no man, but I will not be a willing victim.....
