SR9C Compact
« on: March 08, 2010, 03:43:26 AM »
I bought an SR9c recently, just to have one. Our state doesn't have a carry law, yet.
I thought it was going to be a pretty cool little gun. I was able to keep 10 shots on a paper plate at 50 ft. with no problem. The barrel is only about 2 1/8", thats rifled barrel, not including chamber. That puts in the snub nosed revolver catagory. I found it very difficult to draw the slide back and cock it. The serations on the slide aren't comfortable and the recoil spring is stronger then any other Ruger I've ever had.
Overall it does what its supposed to do and I guess as a carry gun you don't have to move the slide very often. But as a recreational shooter I didn't find it much fun. Having said that, its not designed to be a rec gun.
I am a life-long Ruger man and am not bad mouthing a product or the company.
This is not a complaint, just an observation and personal veiw point.
I suspect I will be trading it in on something more, to me, user friendly and fitting in better with the type of shooting I do.
