Yeppers Steve , know what you are talking about....in fact your mentioning the squeaking of fox in reminded me when i had my young daughter and son with me  walking along woods edge next to open hay field...... i saw a red fox mousing in middle of field and i   told the kids  to lay down behind this knoll in field by woods and i would try and squeak  fox in.... well  when that fox heard me squeaking   (lips)  he barrelled a beeline for our position.... kids couldnt  see fox as  were watching ahead behind knoll.....so when red fox came over top of knoll  right in front of kids.... i  dont know who was more surprised  the kids or fox   which made an abupt turn to get away from those huge  squeaking mice.....LOL

Sorry to hear that kid, but in order to do anything right--it takes time.
You are the only one that can decide where your priorities are. Most of us on here had to learn to juggle school and trapping.
When I was in college,I started classes at 8 every morning. This way I was done early in the day and checked traps on my way home. Then it was off to work. When I got home at night,I would do my skinning.
Though it was a hectic time, I am not sorry for any of it.All 3 were important to me,and the fur check would usually pay for another quarter of tuition and maybe even the car insurance.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

48 and can still whip my weight in wolverine.
I want movement, not a calm course of existence. I want excitement and danger and the chance to sacrifice myself for my love. I feel in myself a superabundance of energy which finds no outlet in our quiet life.”
