I bought a konus pro 6x40 for $40 bucks new for my 500. I have no complaints. scope has glass etched reticle, and is supposed to be 100% recoil proof. you might check them out.

+1 for the Pro Diamond 4x32 by Simmons. I have them on my 12ga USH and 2 of my muzzleloaders. The scope has done just fine for me and I like the long eye relief they have and have held up to the recoil so far. I mounted one on my Handi 500 S&W but haven't been out to shoot it yet......

I do not like to skimp on glass. Buy the best you can afford. After all, if you can't see or it dosen't hold zero what good is it to you? The 500 is no slouch in the recoil department.

I like Leupold, but unless you buy used they are costly. Many here like the Nikons for just over 100 bucks.

I like the pro diamond scope 4x32.  I have one on my 20ga NEF and on my Huntsman.  No problems with either.

If you want one that will last I'd suggest the Nikon Prostaff 2-7X32.

Check out ebay........make sure you're getting a new scope and not a refurb.  I usually pay 109.00 shipped.
