243 Encore Pistol.........
« on: March 24, 2010, 05:14:31 PM »
I finally got my 243 Encore pistol together now for the journy of finding a round for her.

I dont reload so Ill be using factory ammo. So Im asking for a starting point, the barrel is from TC and it will be used for hunting deer. I haave a remmy 700 in a 243 that shoots Remmy 100gr Corelocs. Thanks for your input.

Handloading SHOULD give you a more effecient load. I think I'd try the 80 to 90 grain loads for deer. Smaller critters would only need a 70 grain slug, or less IF you can find one.
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=285200  This is a cheap BUT good ammo for my buddy's rifle. Wolf IS cheaper, but NOT as good. Great for plinking, but not consistent.

From the deer that I have seen My buddy shoot. With his custom 18" Encore Barrel and the 85gr bthp.  A shoulder shot is a through and through..  Have been with him twice and it puts them down.  I have a Load using the 95gr Nosler Ballistic tips. It does the same out of my Rem. Model 7 Predator.

Try ur 100 grain Remington in it, see how it shoots, I know I use 139 grain Hornady Light mags in my 15" 7-08 Encore and it's accurate and deadly on deer..............

That was my game plan to use the 100gr to get use to it but I gonna pick up some Barnes 3X in a 85 or 90 grainer. Im a spot shooter (archery) and I know once I get into this gun Im going to be just as anal about it as I am about my archery. My goal is to get her to shoot less than MOA out to atleast 200yrds. Hopefully I can get this without alot of modifications .

Try the Sierra 80gr. single shot pistol bullet , if you can find them. Worked in mine.. I'm going to the 85gr. spitzer in it now. great accuracy and speed.   mc
