We have to realize that GM is desperate. Ford just announced a good profit and they GM is dieng on the vine. Any Toyota or Honda problem is gonna be exagerated by the media and fueled by the obama administration. Keep in mind that the unions are obamas pet coons. He will help them when he can and he also needs to make GM profitable again.

Buy A toyota or Ford make a statement to progressives! Tell em to get outa the business!

I forgot to say that Ford didn't take any bailout money!

I have owned several Toyotas, and loved each of them.  Fine quality vehicles, with no problems out of any of them.  I have all the respect for Toyota due to their stopping the sale of vehicles that might have a defective part, till they can get them updated.  Also that they said the public's cars will be fixed first.  American Car Companies have never gone that far.  Also the defective assembly is American Made, and Ford uses the same assembly in some of their Vans they build in China.

I bought a used Ford F-150 real cheap ($1800.00 below the asking price) several years ago because the throttle stuck on a test drive.  Scared the salesman in the truck half to death.  Once I figured out what action it took to cause it, I made sure It happened twice more on the way back to the dealership.  Simply turn off the ignition when it happened, no problem.  Bought it took it home and repaired the linkage.  Had to sign a waver not to hold the dealership responsiable for any defects in the truck.  Drove it for five years, then gave it to my oldest son.

My Ford Aerostar was under recall for defective head light switch causing fires.  Ford did not have a replacement, and advised not parking it in the garage till they came up with a replacement.  Took two years.

97 F-150 under recall due to Cruise Control causing fires.  Advised to park it outside for over a year till Ford could replace it.

Don't know why I keep buying Fords?

I heard on Fox news at noon that GM has the same problem on some of their cars.

That's because those cars were made by Toyota...

I'll bet you when it's all said and done, Toyota will find it's more than floor mats hanging up on the throttle.  They have a problem, and just hate to admit it, and folks are dieing because of it...  AND yes all the car companys do the same kind of BS.

I think youll find that the parts that failed(and Toyota is aware that they have a problem) were made in the USA. I used to think that all the car companies were just out to make a buck, now I think some are in businees to make the unions a buck!

They may hate to admit there is a problem but unlike the "big three" they have, and have recalled a bunch of cars and are in the process of making it right. They also quit selling models that were suspect.

I wont go into how GM(obama motors) has screwed me around in the past , but I will say it wont happen again!

50 Gs is steep by any means but if you need a truck big enough to do the job then the only other choice is an 18 wheeler.
Would surely get the job done but hell to park at the grocery store and mommy don't know squat about an 18 speed double overdrive!

Toyota will emerge on the other side of this just fine. All the big car companies have had something like this happen to them in the past. A hit like this is not going to hurt Toyota reputation for making a quality product. People will forgive and forget. They make a darn good product even if some of em look like little rice burners. They done a nice job remaking the Tundra. That 1st generation Tundra was a toy and Toyota got through that.

Perhaps you misread part of my last post?   The GM cars that are being recalled were actually cars made by Toyota for GM with Pontiac on them.  They have the same Toyota problem.

As for pickups and problems...  I've bought a lot of pickups since my first one that was a 1970 model.  Some were better than others, and yes i've owned a Toyota too.  It was the pickup that had a manual tranny that jumped out of reverse since the day i bought it, and never could get sorted out.  It's also the one that started hard in the cold, that never got sorted out either.  Toyota doesn't built all glorious vehicles!  My friend bought a new one, and it wore out brakes like crazy!  The Toyota dealer just blamed it on the fact that he lived on a gravel road...  He didn't have that problem with the Pontiac he had before the Toyota, or the one he bought AFTER the Totota either.  BTW, the 4 banger in his Toyota also burnt a valve too...

Every company builds some junk and no one can get away from that fact...

I believe Toyota's gas pedal problem will end up being electrical, and if that ends up being the truth, i'll guess and say that will be a Japan part, but i'm guessing there...

YOU may have misread my post about who made the parts that failed, Seems it was an American Company.  No use inspeculating who dun it. Toyota is accepting responsability and is fixing the problem at their expense. GM/Obama motors would not have handled it this way, This is from my experience.

CTS Corp. of Elkhart, Ind., has some serious 'splaining to do.

Toyota Motor Corp.'s sweeping halt of U.S. sales in some of its most popular car models is said to stem from a flawed gas-pedal assembly made by the Midwest company. Obviously a sticky accellerator can have potentially fatal consequences.

A bulletproof reputation for quality is on the firing line. This halt easily could extend to Canada, Europe and beyond, with severe consequences for the No. 1 automaker's image -- not to mention its sales in 2010.

CTS, which operates a plant in suburban Bloomingdale, is slated to unveil its earnings Wednesday afternoon. Its executives have scheduled a conference call to discuss results with investors at 10 a.m. Thursday. Any guess what the first question might be?

Asked about the accellerator issue on Wednesday morning, a CTS spokeswoman said, "We're not giving out any sort of comment."

Statement from Toyota on Supplier CTS
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America (TEMA) has been working closely with supplier CTS on a revised design that effectively remedies the problem associated with accelerator pedals. Pedals featuring the revised design are now in full production at CTS to support Toyota’s needs. Meanwhile, we are also working with them to test effective modifications to existing pedals in the field that will be rolled out as quickly as possible.

“We commend CTS for working diligently and collaboratively to find a solution to the potential problem and in developing a new design,” said Chris Nielsen, TEMA’s Vice President of Purchasing. “CTS is a long-term and valued supplier to us.”

I'm not buying it's all from a flawed gas pedal, i'm thinking Toyota is/was trying to cover up a bigger problem.

Some of the car's that crashed didn't even have a floor mat in them, so it can't be a "gas pedal/floor mat" problem.  How many months did Toyota SWEAR it was floor matts that cause the problem, EVEN when folks were crashing WITHOUT floor mats in there cars??  Like i said above, i'm GUESSING what the problem is, just like everyone else in this forum.

One report claimed that moisture is building up in an electrical circuit, causeing an electrical failure...  So, there you have it.  Another car company NOT doing anything until many folks die, and they are forced to do something about it.

This isn't a "new" problem, "if" the news media had not been on their backs for so long, they would have continued to sweep this problem under the rug, JUST LIKE the other car companys do.
