Name this company
« on: February 26, 2010, 11:01:52 AM »
A Friend asked me to look at an old 22 rifle he had with open sights and a "lil" rolling block that falls back with a lever on the side to reload the rifle. Looks old, and with out taking the rear sight out of the dove tail, all I could read on top of the barrel was "_______" firearms and Tool Co. Any body recognize that name?

If there is no help I will take pictures of it and post them so we can resolve this dilemma.

Thanks in advance!

Well I did and found out that it is a Stevens "crackshot", it may be worth some money but probably only in great condition. So it may not meet that mark!

Thanks so much for the "Stevens" Tip.

The part
Quote
a lever on the side to reload the rifle
is what threw me...  I immediately thought Martini, but that's a cocking indicator on the side, not a lever to open action... and its not a rolling block action.
Just to be a stickler, the Stevens action is a falling block not rolling block and the lever is on the bottom.

I'm gonna get some pics cause it may well be a falling block but the lever is on the right side.

Below is a picture i found on the Internet that is as best I can tell exactly like the one i held.

OS,
My BAD, I TOTALLY forgot about that old model 26 sidelever!!!

Its not a very common model at least not around here. IMHO, Much nicer then the later M26.
