"Little Gun Does the Job" (hunting pic)
« on: February 05, 2010, 08:38:28 AM »
Gang,

I had a good morning afield with my hunting Buddy and my two girlfriends (The Beagles guys). I missed some and my Buddy missed some. I need to get some more shells! ??? I was using my 20 ga. Pardner Shorty and my hunting Buddy was using his 20 ga. Brazilan made Single Shot. The dogs did well and ran with all heart. The rabbits ran big circles today, but we harvested some nice bunnies!

Good Luck to all still hunting the Rabbits!

PS: Markus hope you can join us next week! ;)

 Nice picture, thanks for posting.

Are your dogs like ours were? We had German short hair pointers. They'd come up on point, you'd advance and a covey of quail would flush. You miss a shot and the dog turns around and looks at you with an expression on her face that say, OK I did my job here... how about you hold up your end of the bargain OK. It kind of makes you feel small.

I second scout4's opinions!

Thanks Guys!

I'm in my world when I'm out with the girls and my bunny busting buddy. The little gun has a 22" youth barrel with screw in choke. The day of the hunt it had in a improved cylinder choke tube. Usally it has a cylinder tube in. If I get a change to hunt this Friday it will have the factory Mod. choke tube in. At the end of the season the rabbits are a little tuffer to anchor and the range is longer on shots. The shells I'm using at the end of the season are reloads with 7/8 oz. magmun number six shot and they are shooting around 1270-80 fps. In the early part of the season I use a reload of 11/16 oz. of chilled shot, if you are queit and stand still the shots are close, within 5 yards. Beltfed it's a proud moment when your beagle circles its first rabbit. Rusty the only time the girls gave me the look was one time we were hunting a cedar thicket and the dogs ran the rabbit by me three times and I missed the rabbit three times. :-[ Mrs. Rhonda harvested the rabbit on the forth circles and everythings was okay after that. Yes all, I'm attached to the Walnut Stocks and the Lil' Pardner Shotgun.

your a lucky man! Rabbits here are tuff, we are very very hilly, lots of brush and briars, and the bunnies are very skiddish. If you get close to a brush pile you better be ready if he's there, he's gone. We had 1/2 inch of ice fall, and man that makes it tougher yet :D Next weekend is our clubs rabbit hunt. 500.00 to the top hunter, whoever who limits out first ;D 250.00 for the 2nd place, 100.00 for the 3rd place....
