Need a swaging tool measurement

For anyone that has one, What's the OD of the rod that swages a mil brass small rifle primer pocket? I have rem 7 1/2 primer dimentions, just wondering how much smaller is the swage rod/pin.

I have a reamer, but if your not carefull it can take too much out and make the pocket a bit loose. I have a scatter brain Idea rolling around,,that I could use the priming arm on my RCBS press to swage,,,

Do yourself and your brass a favor and get the right tool for the job. You cannot or certainly SHOULD NOT attempt what you are thinking of.

Take Bill's advice. I seriously doubt if the swing arm would hold up under those kinds of pressures and it would have to be done on the down stroke, not on the up stroke where you get your power. I have a RCBS prep center with carbide pocket cutters. It works great for uniforming pockets, I also use it for cleaning primer pockets. I have not tried it for cutting military crimps, but i think it would do that too. BTW, i have not gotten too big of pockets using these tools. Good Luck and Good Shooting

 OK, the plan is scrapped. I guess the trouble I have is hanging onto those little cases with the club I have for a hand.
I'm gonna make a litte holder, I'll drill a hole in a piece of 1x cedar I have, then sawcut down too it, at least then I'll be able to hold'm without'm spinning, I only need a couple 100, so buying a swaging machine ain't worth the cost.

RCBS, Redding, Lyman and Hornady all I think make a cheap tool that makes the job really simple and fast. It's a $10-$15 tool I think and takes care of both large and small size primer pockets with the included parts. This jury rigging of stuff that might or might not work just isn't worth the tiny savings in money and if your time is worth anything you'll recoup the cost on the first batch.

I can't recall if mine is an RCBS or Hornady. Most of my stuff is one or the other.

A good stuck case remover, a proper bullet puller and a primer pocket swage tool are three handy little tools all folks who call themselves reloaders should have on hand. Sooner or later you are gonna need all three.

The RCBS p/n 9495 , will do large and small the small swage seems to mesure .16 or there about . Like the others said the tool would save you time as once you push the swage in you have to remove it , the tool comes with a perfect way to do so . MAKE SURE YOU READ HOW TO ADJUST THE TOOL  i had to have a new ram sent as i did not !
