Can I replace front sight?

Can the front sight on a Blackhawk be replaced with a more traditional looking drop sight? Such as one like a Vaquero?

If you have enough money and/or skill anything can be done. If you are asking can you have a vaquero type front sight put on your BH with adjustable sights then the answer is not very easily.

I think you'll find your front sight is screwed on and has a ramp. Taking it off will leave one or two holes I can't recall at the moment which. The vaquero front is brazed or soldered on and to make it look decent you'd have to fill the holes or cut the barrel behind them. You'd most likely then find the front sight way short or it would have to be made so tall as to be ungainly as it would still need to be as tall as the one on it now.

You could just reshape the blade on it now or have it replaced with another sight using a similar ramp with the vaquero style blade atop a ramp.

Most blackhawks have a "sweated" on front sight.  A gun smith can remove it easily and replace it with whatever you like.  If you are gun savy and tool handy, you can do it yourself.  Brownells has lots of sights on their website.  You will most likely be doing some bluing also to get the cosmetics back in shape.

Most single sixes have screw on front sights as do the long "bull barrel" super blackhawks.

Watch gunbroker for a Vaquero barrel. Some of the custom smiths sell there and unload the take-offs when they customize a 357 into whatever. If you have a gunsmith that you deal with, he will probably be able to fit the Vaquero barrel cheaper than silver soldering a sight blade and rebluing.
