Hakim prices.....
« on: January 21, 2011, 12:40:43 PM »
I went browsing yesterday and seen the muzzle of an Egyptian 8mm Hakim in the C&R gun rack marked $599. It was your average run of the mill looking hakim too.  Is this the norm price wise lately?

Had one on the local shelf here for over $700 and even though it was a pos the shop owner was not willing to negotiate....  way too much.

having owned one for a couple of decades, and I really like it,
I still would not pay anywhere near that for one either.

Saw one at the last gunshow and the price was over $800. It wasn't one of the "dropped in sand once" ones.

This one loacl shop just sold two norinco sks's for $500 each during the summer.  His prices seem to be the ones to watch for setting the trends.

Years ago when the accidents were happening from the gas valves not being adjusted correctly these were selling like hot cakes for $150+.  Then they seemed to level off at $450 for many years.  Now there taking off.  I like it she is one mean semi in 8mm.  She also has a loud bark too.

I think with the present yugo sks's being offered between $300 to $400+ at the dealers now its going to drive everything up the ladder a few rungs price wise. I think that all military guns across the board will be going much higher in the near future.  The FN49's are right behind the other high priced ones too.

Someday were all going to be happy to have what we have when the prices go even higher.  I think someday the surplus military stuff will catch up to the antique stuff, well maybe much closer price wise.  Once the market figures out the surplus military guns aren't being manufactured anymore as the supply dries up more and more it will sink in.

Price on the French MAS 49/56 is climbing as well, still prefer over Centuries CETME they assembled in 2004.

Price on the French MAS 49/56 is climbing as well, still prefer over Centuries CETME they assembled in 2004.

For many years now the french MAS 49/56 commando rifle in 7,5f has always been cheap.  I keep on seeing them for $150+ in the past.  I got two unissued ones with accessorices from SOG for $189 each.  I picked up two french 49/56's that were converted by century arms to 308 for $150 each too.  These are a hoot to shoot and overlooked by many collectors and i guess its the 7,5mm ammo. I had to get my second 49/56 in 7,5 because i let my son shoot it and i never see it when i bring it with us to the range now.  Its the first rifle that he grabs so i needed two so i could shoot one too. I also have a cetme in 308 from century arms too.  The recoil is like a ruger 10/22 rifle its so little recoil yet it throws out the 308 round respectively and accurate too.  Back then on the down side my cetme was $400 but it came with extra mags, ammo pouches and the cleaning stuff.  I been lucky so far i got two 49/56's that were converted to 308 and one cemtme that also cycles and functions ok too.  I have heard of there being bad ones too. I am surprised that the 49/56 stayed so cheap for so long.  There a great rifle. I know at onetime the 7,5 french ammo was slim to none in finding any.  The FNM ammo was offered first for the french mas rifles.  It worked in some rifles yet in others it didn't.  My two new 49/56's cycled with it ok but my m49 didn't cycle with it. Once the second batch of the 7,5 frech ammo was loaded with a higher powder charge and it works in any 7,5 french rifle.  I don't see anymore FNM frenck ammo but Priv-partizan is offering the french 7,5mm ammo now.  The only surplus 7,5mm french ammo was the linked machine gun ammo but most of that is gone now.   There's not much to reloading the 7,5mm calibers too they use the 30cal bullets.   CZY

A local shop has a FN-49 that appears "prettied up"  Looks like a good walnut stock, refinished, with perfect blue for around $750.-800.  Still in the general military configuration.   I shot a deer with my 49/56 before I sold it.  Wound up keeping a couple hundred rounds French linked military ammo.  Wish I could trade it for something I could use.

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

I found an FN49 and i think its egyptian in an out of the way pawn shop thats off the beaten path.  I may grab it if its cheap or if the barrel is shot.  I have two extra new barrels sitting here.  CZY
