New government plan to change driving to left side of road

By now you have no doubt read about the plan to switch American driving to left side of the road like the English and several other countries. What you may not have read is that the plan is to phase this in gradually, so that we can electively drive on the right side of the road during the phase-in period.

Somehow I suspect that the department of transportation planners have not rigorously thought through this proposal.

Crazy... it's so obvious that this could not be "phased in".  Ohhh... on Sunday you can drive on the left...  Signs face wrong directions.  Roads are built SPECIFICALLY for driving on the right.  Every road would have to be re-engineered.  Every sign replaced.  Every car replaced with right hand drive.  Silly.  There are only about 4 countries that drive on the left... everyone else drives on the right. BS/pot stirring flag is up on this...

I really, really, really doubt this.  Contrary to to what some believe, the majority of the world drives on the right - it's not just the US.  Britain, many of it's former colonies or affiliates, and a handful of other countries left-drive, but THAT is being phased out in many places.

With the global trend already being switching from left-side to right, rather than vice versa (and PARTICULARLY given our stubbornness when it comes to change - notice how well the whole "we're gonna change completely to the metric system!!!" thing went), this is about is likely as the sun turning green tomorrow.
