42.0 grs. Reloader 17
120 Seirra Spitzer #1720

I loaded RL 17 - 39 and 41gr. and IMR 4350 -39 and 41 grs. with the same bullet this morning. Hopefully shoot it this afternoon to see what these loads do.

I   have a .260, I have been using 38 grains of RL 15 with a Hornady 140 grain SST that works pretty well. Plan to try some H414.

Finally got to shoot the other rounds today.
The RL 40 gr. load went South today it shot it a little over 1.5"
The RL 39 gr. load performed the best today with a .75" group.
Both IMR groups were over 1.5".
I loaded 15 more rounds this evening gonna try it with these loads.
I am going to retry the RL 17 at 40 and 39 gns again. I also loaded:
39.5 gns of RL 17
40 gns   IMR 4350
42 gns   IMR 4350
After shooting these loads if it is still shooting all over the place I am going to break out the wood working tools and start over.

The best money a handloader can ever spend is for the purchase of a chronograph. They are inexpensive and pretty darned good. Use of one can tell you what your shot to shot variations are, and let you know if you have velocity spikes. If you have a "sweet" load that someone told you shoots great in their rifle and it crosses your screens 150-200 FPS faster than published velocities, then you are starting to tread on thin ice. Your increase in group size with the higher amounts of powder is suggesting to you where your sweet spot is for that particular rifle.

Thanks,
