This time of year I enjoy the loading.
Arthiritis keeps me in and away from the range.
Like others I have a range in my backyard, albeit a short 22 range.
On the nicer warm days I'll go out and plink the 22's
But most days I spend in the man cave reloading ammo to fight off cabin fever.
I find it relaxing and enjoyable.

The rest of the year I'm usually shooting.
I usually fit in a few days in the fall for casting, but otherwise I enjoy shooting.
This schedule works well for me as I've accumulated enough brass over the years to keep busy in the winter.
And as a result of keeping busy in the winter usually have enough rounds to shoot all year.

It is shooting a tight group with a load you worked up for your firearm.  It is harvesting a nice animal with a reload you put together.  It is having enough reloads to take the family out and having a good time together.  It is going to the cupboard and finding out it isn't bare (old mother hubbard, you know....), you have ammo to shoot and may even have more than the local WalMart store.

Yes, it is the reloading or the shooting!

I enjoy both as well.  Reloading gives me something to do when I can't shoot, but is still firearm related.  It's kind of like an extension of my hobby.  I feel the same way about cleaning my guns, too.
