Old Springfield
« on: February 01, 2010, 02:17:54 PM »
I have an old Springfield bolt single shot from my youth that has been in retirement a while.  I drug the beat up old thing out of the safe the other day and felt bad about it's condition.  After stripping the old brown stuff off the stock, I discovered some beautiful wood there.  Who knew?  Tru Oil did the rest.

Put some glass on it and went to the range with it yesterday, and managed some 3/8" 5 shot groups.

When in the boy scouts, I won several NRA medals with this little fella', so I know he's got better than that in him, (but I don't), anymore.

There are probably a lot of good shooters in the $60.00 rack at pawn shops!

Springfield model 15 - I recently took one of these in trade. Great shooter! Unfortunately, the stock was a basket case and I am now making a new one out of walnut. Will probably reblue all the metal as well.
