Had a big PC problem today.
The main internal power supply burned out and the thing won't even turn on.
My PC man is checking to see if he can get the part and how much.
Hopefully it didn't fry the rest of it!
We'll see.
Anyway, depends on what he finds I may be off line a few days.
May be time for a new PC.
I am using my oldest son's laptop right now.
Major snow storm due here tomorrow.
May throw a wrench in the works!  >:(

Power units are a common failure. You can buy them at Office Max for about 40 bucks. It is almost as easy as changing a light bulb.

Hi all.
Did ya miss me?
Still don't have the PC back yet.
We really got dumped on by snow Friday and Saturday, 27" with high winds.
Drifts in the driveway up to 3'.
Beleave it or not my little craftsman mower with a 46" wide and 18" deep cut did a fine job.
400' long drive and the whole parking lot.
Had over 5' drifts on the roof of the house.
Had to get up there yesterday and shovel that off or we may have lost the main porch.
Clear & sunny today.
More snow coming Tuesday & Wendsday.

Really haven't had a chance to check on the power supply.
Didn't matter anyway as everything was closed yesterday.
May try to get in and check at Office Max tonight.

Just wanted to let you know I am still alive.
Be back on when ever I can.
No school tomorrow or Tuesday so I will have to wait my turn on my son's laptop.

Bring your old power supply with you, then match or better the wattage rating.

We're back!

Finally got to town today to look for the power supply.
I needed a 250 watt max and all the stores had were 350s.
Wasn't sure if they were compatible so i passed since no one seemed to know for sure.
Just sales clerks.
Stopped in at a small computer store that had a sign out front saying we work on PCs.
Told him what I needed.
The smallest he had was a 300 but said it would be fine.
Must be, it's working!
My PC man still hasn't gotten back to me.
May have found a new PC man!   ;)
Easy to put in.
I couldn't believe the amount of dust that had collected inside.
No wonder the fans were running all the time.
Got that all cleaned out now.
It sure runs quiet now.
I guess I have a lot of catching up to do here on GBO.
Three days off, that was hard.
The boy's laptop helped but I really don't think I like it that much.
Won't be rushing out to buy myself one any time soon.

Thanks for the well wishes and the help & suggestions to get me back up to speed.
