Prospector86, check the Stickies, "How to build...", and also go thru the posts, you should find several "builds" in progress, or pics...or get ideas from some of our sponsers, or hang around a little, you will get lots of help here! BoomLover

If you look at  the cannon link list sticky at the top of the board you will find cannon plans listed there.  The  book Building 18th Century Artillery that Dan suggested is listed there. This is a must have book for building cannon in the  Naval pattern.

You will need to figure out what kind of cannon you want.
If it is a shooter, I think the Naval style base is a little small for a stand alone cannon.
I sized mine a little longer and wider for stability.
I just wing it for size and style.

Dom's  GB Barrel.
I will get it done one of these days.

You can't argue with sucess.
My point is, the naval carriage was only one part of a system.
If you don't have a ship of the line to bring to the firing line, a slightly oversized naval carriage is not a bad idea.

I knew what you meant..........sometimes those big barrels sitting on itsy bitsy carriages just don't look right............surprising thing is.......they took all that rolling about on deck............continual discharge.....ok the design was right........materials were right.........but the eyes say.........' them don't look right '
