What Mount?
« on: February 14, 2010, 03:47:37 PM »
I have a S&W 629-3 Classic with a 6" barrel. I have taken a bunch of hogs with it and my Security Six but at my age my eyesight is in decline and I want to scope the Smith or possibly go with a red dot sight. So what mount should I go with that would work with either/or once I make my choice? Thanks for any suggestions.

I've had a Burris base and set of medium rings on my 6 1/2" 629 since 1990, to my complete satisfaction, but I'll also recommend Leupold's dual dovetail unit. The lack of a windage screw to loosen makes it at least theoretically more secure.

Wynn, I have several Jack Weigand mounts and well pleased with them. If your 629 is factory drilled it's an easy mounting.

;D After doing some reading and research, I decided on the Jack Weigand mount and 3 ring magnums. Thanks for the input from each of you.  Wynn
